This doctoral thesis summarises in a very good way the development and challenges regarding flight crew training, facing automation, during the last few decades and it addresses a research question formulated: 'What are the barriers and potential for airline training and performance measuring processes to support the flight crew for the operation of the highly automated aircraft?'.
