LOT Polish Airlines, one of the longest existing airlines and connecting Poland, Central and Eastern Europe with the world, has prolonged their commitment to Jeppesen Remote Planning Services for producing their crew pairings.
"We have chosen to bring in optimization capability from Jeppesen as a remote planning service", says Maciej Wilk, Chief Operating Officer at LOT. "We are regularly providing Jeppesen with data and instructions and then we work together to produce the best crew pairing solutions. The collaboration is working great and this is a way for us to draw the best from the two expert groups; our planners knowing our operation and requirements in detail, and Jeppesen experts knowing the tools, the optimizers, and clever best practices and tweaks learned over time from the grander Jeppesen operator community", he continues.
Thanos Koltsidas, Crew Planning Expert at Jeppesen, and involved in the production of LOT crew pairings comments, "A remote planning service means having Jeppesen experts maneuvering the system and running the optimizers on behalf of the operator. It can also be a quick and convenient way of initially establishing value from optimization, before taking on a solution in-house." "The LOT planners are extremely competent and together we simply supplement their long experience with the power of world-leading industry-strength optimization. We appreciate the trust put in us by LOT and with the prolonged agreement we now look forward to serving them during the upcoming years", he adds.
Jeppesen Crew Pairing is currently used by some 80+ airlines world-wide and capable of planning the most diverse types of planning problems, producing solutions that are efficient, cost effective and robust. Jeppesen Crew Pairing is used also for planning analytics, producing scenarios for decision support - for example for base analysis, evaluation of rule changes and re-timing of the flight schedule.
