Are you better now, in terms of fatigue risk, than you were six months ago? Better off in the 320-fleet than in 737? And what about your instructors, are they more at risk now? And if so why?
There are four critical questions you need to be able to answer with your FRMS. If you can answer these, you do have an effective FRMS - on some level. If you can't, you're doing something wrong. Are you curious to know what those four questions are? You should be! And here they come:
1. Where in your operation are you most likely to suffer your next fatigue related incident or accident?
2. How do you know that?
3. What do you do about it?
4. How effective is it?
Imagine these four questions being put forward to you in a really thorough audit. That thought may guide you well in implementing what is really needed for making a tangible and lasting difference to your operation. Be sure to apply science and act upon representative data to control and guide your operation towards lower risk - using sound metrics, while considering also potential adverse consequences from your actions. And track your development over time. Make progress, or make excuses.
