Modelling of a sequence of activities and sleep/wake history for a fatigue report, incident or accident, allows for evaluating the scientific 'position' on how roster-induced fatigue risk would play out for an average individual. Such modelling can provide valuable insight regarding the occurrence being a one-off or a more general problem. It can also assist in evaluating prevention and mitigation options.
The Jeppesen CrewAlert app, which has for many years been the go-to-app on Appstore for aviation fatigue risk modeling, is now able to read a modeled 'scenario' by just shooting a QR-code. The scenario provided in the QR-code here, is modeling of the captain at the Mangalore accident back in 2010. The scenario can be loaded by tapping the 'scenario dot' in CrewAlert, selecting import from QR-code. Scenarios are easily shared between professionals via files that can be sent over a regular email.
