Sampling the CDP Conference: JCP SaaS

With attendance from almost 300 crew management professionals, and 27 different workshop sessions, the Jeppesen CDP conference is for many a highlight of the year. This time around was no different, with extensive information and idea exchange on innovative improvements in the crew management domain - but also to surrounding processes. The conference, this year spread out over a few weeks and held virtually, is wrapping up while this newsletter is being published.

Just the other day, recent development with the potential of making a big impact on the industry, was presented; Jeppesen Crew Pairing SaaS. The leading pairing optimizer, used by so many of the larger airlines, will become available as a 'SaaS offering' - making it easier to take on for smaller operators also. SaaS, meaning Software As A Service, delivers the application through the cloud in a more accessible and scalable way, without a need of any local installation. The Jeppesen Crew Pairing (JCP) product manager Mattias Lindqvist, explains:

"JCP SaaS will mean a simplified and more cost efficient ownership for our customers. The system will be automatically updated, monitored and looked after by Jeppesen professionals", Mattias says. He continues: "Onboarding of new customers will be faster and SaaS also means that optimization capacity is delivered 'on tap' with elastic scaling of hardware resources. For FRM, the threshold will be even lower for an operator to start using BAM for proactively reducing fatigue risk during optimization."
